Miriam Elisabetta Cristiani lives and works in the Oltrepò Pavese hills. After graduating in Literature and Art History from the University of Pavia, her interest deepened in the world of art and antiques, first with an internship at the Sotheby's Auction House in Milan, and then with a stage at an artisan shop to learn the art of bookbinding and restoration of paper and books. She then began her apprenticeship in Voghera at the historic Bookbinding Crespi followed by later moving to Florence to be a student of Father Sisto Giacomini, an international renowned Cistercian monk at the Certosa del Galluzzo. After her years of apprenticeship, she opened at Torrazza Coste, a village in the Oltrepò Pavese, the studio that bears her name and where she devoted herself with great passion for the restoration of old books, prints, watercolors, drawings, manuscripts , maps, comic books, but also the binding of contemporary material, the production of works of cardboard and water coloring of prints. Her efforts for greater perfection in the workmanship has given way to other products, such as hand-dyeing of leathers and the creation of decorated wallpapers: all aimed at a restoration that is aesthetically impeccable and philologically correct.
